Worldly Scholars Enrollment Agreement

This document outlines the Terms & Conditions of enrollment in small-group classes or private tutoring sessions with Worldly Scholars LLC.

Scheduling

Worldly Scholars operates on a fixed 15-week semester schedule, with two semesters per year. There is one version of the calendar that applies to US-designated classes and another for China-designated classes. All classes and tutoring will by default be scheduled to correspond with these calendars.

The calendar has been planned to account for major holidays, and should be considered “fixed” for the year. We will not unilaterally alter the calendar from the start of the semester, but will remain flexible if all students in a particular class are unable to attend a regularly scheduled lesson because of government-mandated alterations to the school calendar. In this situation, we will endeavor to reschedule the lesson - if rescheduling is not possible, unused tuition associated with that lesson can be applied as a non-refundable credit to future enrollments.

Cancellations

In an effort to maintain consistency, Worldly Scholars will do everything possible to not cancel a regularly scheduled class once the semester begins. The only substitute teachers allowed will be John for Chelsey or Chelsey for John -- we will not bring in an outside teacher. If we do have to cancel a class, a makeup will be scheduled for a date that works for the most students possible and this makeup will be offered free of charge to all students (with families receiving a non-refundable credit for the cancelled class).

Families are allowed to miss one regularly scheduled semester-long class “free of charge.” In this case, the family will receive the relevant resources from the lesson (not a class recording) and the teacher will correct homework as normal. The credit for this lesson will then be applied to the student’s next enrollment. The credit cannot be transferred or refunded. Any missed lessons in excess of the first will be charged normally, with the family provided the material and homework being marked.

The same policies apply for 1:1 and 1:2 tutoring, but with families being allowed to miss 2 lessons (out of 15) or 4 lessons (out of 30) “free of charge.” Additionally, alterations to the tutoring schedule can be made upon initial scheduling.

 

Pricing

Standard pricing for Worldly Scholars’ courses and tutoring are determined based on the length of the lesson, number of lessons purchased and time during which those lessons occur.

Discounts

There are a number of ways for families to earn discounts on tuition. They include:

5% re-enrollment bonus applied to a family’s first course, at TOP
10% Reduction on a Family’s 2nd Concurrent Course, Applied at TOP

10% Reduction on total price for Year-Long Enrollment, Applied at TOP

$50 Referral Bonus, Applied at the Next Enrollment

*The maximum total discount that can be applied to any single purchase is 25% of an item’s original purchase price.

Withdrawals & Refunds

Enrollment in Worldly Scholars courses and tutoring is a commitment on behalf of both the family and the organization, and ending an obligation early is disruptive. In order to be as transparent as policy about withdrawals and refunds, the terms are outlined below:

Semester-Long Classes: Students may withdraw from a course before the second lesson of the semester and receive a prorated refund for unfinished classes, minus a $50 processing fee. Withdrawing after the second class but before the sixth is possible, but any remaining prorated tuition may only be held as non-refundable and non-transferable credit. Withdrawal after the sixth lesson will not receive any financial consideration. Students may transfer to a new class (or tutoring), prior to the sixth lesson, free of charge.

Tutoring: Students may withdraw from tutoring and receive a prorated refund prior to the fifth lesson. Withdrawal after this point is possible, but the remaining tuition may be held as credit that can be applied towards any future purchase.

Fair Use for Marketing

Worldly Scholars LLC reserves the right to use a customer’s likeness, completed assignments or communication (without personally identifiable information) for marketing purposes. If a family wishes to prevent this use, they should inform World Scholars LLC in writing at the time of enrollment.
