All interested families are provided with an in-depth educational assessment prior to placement in a small-group class or arrangement of tutoring. This assessment is a critical component of the intake process, allowing us to better understand the student and ensure the greatest educational benefit and highest level of customer service possible.
Each assessment lasts approximately 1hr and 15min, including a 1hr academic assessment followed by a 15min consultation.
The academic portion of the assessment focuses on discussion, critical reading (of both fiction and nonfiction texts) and writing. During the consultation, we will share the assessment results, focusing on both successes and areas for growth. Additionally, we will provide concrete actions that can be taken to help the student improve.
This is an excellent opportunity for families to get to know us and discuss their concerns and aspirations. It’s also an important chance for us to meet each student and make sure they are a good fit for one of our classes or tutoring. Unlike larger companies focussed on growth, we have a limited capacity and are most concerned with finding the best fit for everyone involved.
Working directly with students is one of the reasons why we’ve both transitioned from managerial positions in education back to the classroom. We genuinely enjoy speaking with parents and working with children.
